Are you creating a driveway or finishing a recreational area on your property? If so, you certainly want to get a stable, safe surface that at the same time fits in with your aesthetic expectations. Openwork concrete slabs can be a good solution – their use will also allow you to take care of the environment and reduce the “rainwater tax”. Check out the latest solutions on the market!

Openwork panels for a driveway - why is it worth it?
Which concrete slab for a driveway will work best? In the first place, it must be a solution that will give the surface optimal load-bearing capacity. There is also a second issue that is sometimes forgotten – it is about proper drainage of rainwater. These can only be ensured if the driveway is covered with a water-permeable surface.
The answer to this need is concrete openwork panels. They will work well because:
- allow the preservation of a sufficiently large biologically active area and proper retention – as a result, their use can result in a reduction in the fee for reducing land retention, or even exemption from it;
- are aesthetically pleasing – if only because they allow you to keep greenery or striking aggregate between concrete elements;
- provide easy and convenient installation – in many cases, they can be placed even without a foundation (this depends, among other things, on ground conditions); there is also usually no need for a linear drain;
- allow you to maintain a good grip on the wheels of the vehicle, which means that the car will not slip badly on the driveway in wet weather, snowfall or frost.

Concrete jumbos can be designer! Check out the solutions from BRUK-BET!
Many people find traditional concrete openwork slabs aesthetically incompatible with modern properties. This is, of course, a matter of taste. However, there is good news: it is not at all necessary to stop at classic models of the “grid” type. An interesting alternative is paving slabs NOVATOR® DIAGONAL ECO from BRUK-BET. This is a completely new interpretation of a driveway made of openwork panels!
NOVATOR® DIAGONAL ECO system is distinguished by:
- modern design that is eye-catching and can complement even the most unconventional building designs;
- The possibility of arranging in 5 different combinations – this opens the way to stimulate creativity and “enliven” the space;
- 2 color versions – classic gray and more elegant graphite (they can also be combined with each other).

Openwork concrete slabs don't have to be boring!
The design of NOVATOR® DIAGONAL ECO series tiles is not the only advantage of this solution. Aesthetics are combined in them with very good technical parameters.
- They are 8 mm thick, making it possible to create driveways, parking spaces, slab garden paths and other areas where vehicles up to 3.5 tons can travel.
- HydroFUGA® (interstitial gaps) can be finished with both aggregate and grass, depending on individual preference. Its use allows the creation of an appropriate size of biologically active area – 13.5%. This makes it easy to comply with legal requirements related to the so-called rainwater tax.
How can NOVATOR® DIAGONAL ECO concrete openwork panels be used?
The line in question was designed primarily for the use of openwork panels for a driveway. However, due to the parameters described above, there are many more possibilities for their use. They will also work well for creating water-permeable pavements:
- In parking lots – for example, in front of stores, corporate headquarters or public buildings;
- On garden paths – the proper arrangement of the plates will ensure the comfort of movement and allow you to create an aesthetically pleasing space;
- When hardening slopes, embankments and ditches – to achieve a unique visual effect;
- When decorating green areas – to create interesting compositions.
So the possibilities are many – all using one type of material: efficiently and economically.
Remember, too, that if you want a more complete development of your driveway with adequate permeability to water, you can use HYDROPlus® water-permeable pavers for this purpose.
